People forget that the old gods did evolve in how they were envisioned and that there was never a clear answer to what exactly the portfolio of a god was. The Greek Gods were never as “well defined” as we envision them today. Belief was always a cryptic and very individualized thing before churches that were bigger, more hierarchical and more encompassing than entire nations got to define how a god aught to be seen.

For this it is important to know that Zeus, also carries facets of a fertility god, a great procreator, from whose loins sprang the other gods and many a mortal hero. It is his literary role as the father god to father heroes and adventurers, as the male part of the Zeus-Hera parent-godhood to embody masculinity, as a ruler god to subjugate and conquer.

Zeus is not a real thing with discernible attributes, like all gods, he is a story that changes with the needs and wants of the narrator and listeners.

  • The voice over puts this on “Mormon Extremist Settlers”, yes.

    The problems with that is:

    1. Those are still humans settling in bug space
    2. Can we believe the propaganda voice over?
    3. Mormon extremists?

The propaganda machinery of the Federation would never take responsibility, it’s all about keeping the populace in a constant state of fear, anger and hyperpatriotic, unthinking loyalty. We keep hearing about the “Arachnid exclusion zone” and “quarantined bug space” which implies that the Federation has been trying to restrict the bugs from leaving their space, while the map of the galaxy, showing where earth is and where bug space is located makes it pretty clear that the Federation of Citizens has expanded aaaaaaall the way across the galaxy. Knowing how imperialist settler colonialism works, it’s easy to see how the Federation is either

    a) sending settlers into bug space to expand their own territory, or
    b) engineering conflict with the bugs in order to keep the militarist machinery rolling, or
    c) most likely, doing both.

  • Holy shit… I told myself I’d go to Curiosity Stream once they accepted different payment methods than credit cards but DAMN SON! That price…

Edit: Oh wait… that’s annually… okay, I’m still with it.

Edit2: And I got them mixed up with Nebula, that’s where I really wanted to go… damn.

Paris is the crime capital of Europe.

The city with the highest crime index in Western Europe is Marseilles (67,03) second highest is Bimingham (63,96)

Those would be the 8th and 13th place in the US. So you’d have to go through:

    • Memphis (77,85)
    • Detroit (72,82)
    • Baltimore (71,11)
    • Albuquerque (70,90)
    • Saint Louis (70,12)
    • Oakland (68,60) and
    • New Orleans (67,92)

Before you arrive at Marseilles. Paris is at 57,88, that would be the 17th place in the US.

    (Source: Numbeo)

At the same time the kind of crimes that are unusually high in Marseilles and Paris are pickpocketing and petty theft.

The crimes that are unusually high in the US are violent crimes.
