They are apex predators in Australia. There are no large carnivors that take them out. Dingoes are not common, a cat would give a Goanna a run for its money, cats don’t go in the water so sharks are a different environment, crocodiles live in a small portion of the country. A cat will hunt snakes, snakes will typically only defend, but not all snakes are poisonous and cats have been known to win against the poisonous ones. Wedge tailed eagles again are not everywhere and are mostly just scavengers. Emus are fucking idiots.

When cats get out here they go feral and eat everything in the immediate area. The feral cats that have been feral for generations are significantly bigger and more aggressive than a house cat, and will actively attack sheep.

While they are in no way related to rodents, a lot of Australia’s fauna are effectively just mice of varying sizes without the rapid breeding.

Yeah well cats aren’t native to Australia, humans brought them here so that’s on us, the common house cat is an apex predator here, cat owners need to take some responsibility for their murder machines or we end up with more 20 kg feral cats that can take out a kangaroo

In Australia there is an expectation that people keep their cats inside because those little murder machine are able to decimate a significant amount of our native fauna. I was shocked when I moved to the UK for a few years to find out that a typical requirement for getting a cat there through legitimate sources included committing to letting them roam outside.

No yeah this was something I picked up during my group project in final year of my engineering degree, but also a quick google shows it holds true still. The first page of results has a lot of random sites that say the same thing. You should typically only discharge to 20% where possible, also it doesn’t matter if you charge to 100%, 90% is fine, you should be aiming for as few cycles as possible so if your phone does 1.5 or 2 days between 90/100 and 20 then you should try and let it do that if you can. Over time the degeneration due to normal use will eventually be such that the discharge rate will likely increase to land on charging every night.

The USA was already making money from both sides of the war in Europe. That was mostly the reason they didn’t enter it until Japan bombed them because Japan didn’t like having their fuel supplies cut off by the USA because the USA thought the USA should be the only ones to expand an empire into the Pacific. Following that they wanted support for their retaliation to Japan’s retaliation to their retaliation to Japan’s expansion into the Pacific so they picked a side in Europe (probably the side who owed them the most money) and entered the war against the Nazis.

I think the reduction would be slight versus the reduction realised by improving the quality of existing human operated public transport like buses and trains. A mass transit system relying on individual automated cars is a tech bro brain fart.

Yeah it would be better still if we we had actual improved public transport systems for carry more people at once rather than automated personal vehicles, even if those automated personal vehicles are shared like taxis. The cost of automation and requirement for removing all other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and animals from the roads is immediately removed and the benefits obtained by reducing traffic is immediately realised just by using human driven buses and trains.

Why would it reduce traffic volume? The cars that are on the road are the ones that are currently in their hour of driving that day, it would more reduce the size of parking lots and parking space allocation, or at least move it to charging hubs away from where people congregate.
