  • They’ve still managed to chip away at it a little. It used to be that you could pick a regular hot dog or a polish sausage for the same price, but the latter is gone now. They also used the pandemic as an excuse to get rid of the sauerkraut, and now I think even the onions are gone.

Also during the pandemic, the local Costco Business Center just demolished their cafe entirely.

  • Funny you should mention that, because it’s what got me thinking about Ceph in the first place. My other Proxmox node has a 2-drive mirrored ZFS pool, and I went to add a third drive to it and realized that I’d have to move all the data off and rebuild it from scratch, so I started looking for other solutions.

So yeah, I think Ceph can add to an array after-the-fact like that (in addition to the not-waste-capacity-of-random-assorted-disks thing), but I haven’t figured it out enough yet to be sure.

Unions have been attempted more times than they’ve succeeded

I get what you mean, but I can’t resist the urge to point out that that’s basically a truism. The number of successes must be greater or equal than the number of attempts by definition, since a success without an attempt is not possible.

Reminder: the traditional “9 to 5” workday that is considered “full time” includes lunch. If you’re not getting paid for it or are working 8 to 5 or whatever, you’re getting swindled.

You might say it’s “normal” now, but it only becomes normalized because workers fail to hold the line.
