You say that as though you are being ironic, and yet everything in this thread supports the idea that you absolutely don’t get it. This is one of those rare cases of unintentional un-irony. Now, about that stick?

Easily explained: for rhetorical effect and humour. Now, tell us why you feel the need to have a huge stick up your ass?

61·9 days agoThat’s not what I said. That site measures the output of the chain. I said we grow more food (ie plants) than humanity can eat. We feed the majority of that food to the livestock we keep that absolutely dwarfs the biomass of all wild animals. That introduces a 90%+ caloric inefficiency. If we just ate the plants, we would have to stop growing so much food, even all our industrial processes don’t demand that much. But capitalism demands instead that we keep growing more food than the year before, and so it demands inefficiencies like animal ag. Any scarcity is entirely engineered. It’s not an accident, it’s by design. It is necessary to maximize investor return.

223·9 days agoWe grow several times more food than humanity can possibly eat. We don’t have a productivity or resource shortage. We have an allocation error.

162·9 days agoNot just fine, good.
We’re talking about net worth.
I’m not grasping your point.
It tongue in cheek, but the government absolutely does not have an inventory of Canadian’s assets. You do not report your net worth. Wealthy people don’t have employment income and while they do have to report most investment income, they don’t have to report assets unless income is being realized. If they can shelter it, they never have to.
I don’t really think that taking body parts is a serious solution to wealth inequity, but I also don’t think scaling fines is the best solution, though an improvement over fixed fines.
They also have no capacity to pay whatever fine you might levy. This is not really a problem you can get around. It’s tautological. People with nothing to lose have nothing to lose.
The social contract flows both ways. If you’ve been left behind, you don’t owe jack to society.
But that leads to a surveillance state that is obsessed with how much everyone is “worth” at all times. That’s bullshit. I say we just take body capacity. You gotta wear a cast for a week. A month. You lose a finger. You lose your eyes. Those are things we all value equally (if you will excuse the ableism and assume it can be compensated for).
I’m a hero to thousands.

Technically correct usage. Well done.
I interpreted this (incorrectly I now assume) to mean if you pay attention to billionares ruining the world instead of playing with a dog with a stick, you will be unhappy. Which, yes, this is true, but perhaps not the most important metric.

21·24 days ago“Good” means different things in different contexts. Here you mean it as something like “user friendly”. Of course, there are other priorities that someone else could call “good”. It’s not a helpful word for honest debate, but it’s very convenient for hiding a bunch of semantic puns and confused reasoning behind.
