Better hope they don’t turn that forest of yours into a local data center within our lifetimes

I think it’s a localization bug in the frontend. Try changing the language to English in Settings -> App -> Language and check if it works

Thanks for your feedback, it is much appreciated!

By “messages” do you mean the Inbox? When you replied to me earlier, it shows “Pfeiffenstirra replied to you in Tips&Tricks”, along with your profile. It might just be a bug or an issue with my username. There have also been a few recent changes to how the site behaves on android browsers, but either way I’ll have a look at it.

When it comes to saving comment drafts, it’s definitely something I’ll consider implementing, although on the mobile 9gag app my comment drafts aren’t being saved either, so I have never even considered it before.

And the behaviour you’re seeing when switching to “local” posts is completely intentional. You can choose to either post on the local communities or remote lemmy.world server, which is currently used to populate the home feed due to the lack of content on our local communities. You can browse communities in the “Explore” menu. In the future, more communities will be added. You can think of Altgag like “Reddit” and communities like “subreddits”, except the whole platform is decentralized and interconnected with other independent servers.

I have had some users assume that lemmy.world was somehow affiliated with 9gag or altgag and started being rude or didn’t follow the rules on those communities and got kicked out. This doesn’t happen when you post to our own communities, because we can review and moderate according to our own community guidelines.

For now it doesn’t matter where you decide to post or comment, as long as you do!

Cheers

Hey there, I think I know which project you’re referring to, but Altgag is unrelated to it. However it aims to achieve similar goals. Altgag is federated with other servers, so you will have to follow their rules when posting and interacting on them. If you want a more unrestricted experience, you can post to our local communities instead, which are currently lacking content as you may have already noticed. Thanks for checking by!

There should be a “view” dropdown menu next to the “location” and “sort” dropdowns where you can switch between “cozy” and “compact”. If you’re on mobile, there is currently a bug where the dropdown is hidden. I’m working on fixing it, but you should just be able to rotate your phone and it should show up.

September: ends

This is the way to go. Getting transmission behind a VPN was a bit tricky but it was so worth it

AI generated subtitles are utter garbage. Combine that with idiots who can’t be bothered to check their 60 second long video for mistakes and you basically end up with subtitles that have no reason of being there in the first place

Wake me up when September ends, unless Valve releases the Steam Frame. But otherwise, don’t

Correct, but fungi grow on organic substrates, therefore some of the nutrients required for their metabolism stem from plants. Also, no mention of DMT? I’m heavily disappointed in y’all!

What’s wrong with Bitwarden? Oh yeah, I forgot, because it’s not Vaultwarden

I tried flashing Esphome or my Sonoff Dongles last week and it said the browser wasn’t supported, strange. I’ll give it another shot

The only time I ever use a chromium based browser is because Firefox still doesn’t support WebSerial

And of course it only goes in after the third attempt
